Austin is a sustainability professional with non-profit, education, and consulting experience in the US, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, and Southern Africa.
He graduated in 2006 from Lafayette College with a double major in Engineering Studies and Economics & Business. During his undergraduate years, Austin completed coursework in development studies in Central America as well as energy policy in Scandinavia.
Upon graduation, Austin worked with a small non-profit in rural Jamaica, with middle school and high school students in the Greater Boston Area and New York City, and with American university students through a study-abroad program in Southern Africa.
Austin recently completed his MSc in Sustainable Development at HEC Paris, a program focused on the intersection between corporations and sustainability issues. Coursework topics included ISO 26000 implementation, environmental law, socially responsible investing, corporate sustainability strategy and communication, the geopolitics of resources and public policy, among others.
While at HEC, Austin also completed an advanced certificate in Energy & Finance, worked as a student consultant for the European division of a major automobile group, interned with a major global sustainability members-based non-profit focused on the external assurance of sustainability reporting, and completed a professional thesis on this topic. He also has experience with benchmarking and analyzing sustainability programs and reports as well as presenting on a variety of sustainability topics in various formats.
