![]() The Isosceles Group recently assisted one of its global manufacturing clients with direct outsourcing ESH management support for its global headquarters and manufacturing facility’s annual ISO 14,001 audit. The client, a leading manufacturer of sensors and control devices for automotive and aerospace applications, is required by many of its customers to maintain comprehensive environmental management programs and have its main operations certified in ISO 14,001, among other standards. The US global headquarters and manufacturing operations, having been in operation for more than several decades, provides a unique challenge for its location and extensive and varied operations. Besides manufacturing operations, the facility also carries out many research and development projects and failure analysis programs that utilize numerous chemicals, and create a variety of environmental aspects. The ever-changing nature of the R&D and failure analysis creates a complicated “change management” environment that is subject to continual process improvement. The Isosceles Group’s outsourced ESH team worked closely with site business unit managers and key staff to ensure that new R&D projects and ever-changing customer requests were factored into the environmental management system’s process of tracking changes and recording potential new aspects and impacts. The myriad of constantly changing processes and associated aspects led the combined team to evaluate ways to create improvements year over year that were achievable and could produce cost-savings. By developing master site logs, stored in cloud-based systems accessible from any computer, allowed for more rapid updating of changes, assessment of impacts, and follow-up inspections to ensure compliance. Simplification of tracking from many different tracking forms to a single system led to less confusion and better documentation. The results of the latest audit found no non-compliances; combined with these improvements in system management, the site has been able to remain Audit Non-Compliance free for 5 years.
