![]() South Korea has amended the Enforcement Rule of the Integrated Management of Environmental Pollution Facilities. The change relates to a modification in Article 14(2) that now refers to emission factors for air pollutants, in general, as opposed to just an emission factor for sulfur dioxides. Belgium’s Royal Decree of 2 May 2019 amending the code of well-being at work on indoor air quality in workplaces came into force on May 31, 2019. The Code’s articles concerning the ventilation of workplaces have been amended. The employer is now required to perform a risk analysis of the indoor air quality, which requires consideration of the different sources of pollution that are mentioned: the presence and physical activity of people; the presence of products and materials in the work premises; the maintenance, repair and cleaning of workplaces; and the quality of air supplied by infiltration and ventilation, pollution and operation of ventilation, air treatment and heating systems.

Hungary has issued Government Decree 105/2019 (V. 8.) which lays down certain provisions relating to the implementation of Regulation (EU) No. 2017/852 on mercury and repealing Regulation (EC) No. 1102/2008. This Decree, which applies to mercury, mercury compounds, and mixtures of mercury, entered into force on the 16th day following its publication.

United Kingdom Issues Regulations for Radiation Emergency Preparedness and Public Information5/22/2019 The United Kingdom has issued regulations regarding any work with ionizing radiation that involves having a radioactive substance containing more than the quantity specified in relation to the radionuclide in Schedule 1 or more than the mass of a fissile material specified in Schedule 2. These regulations require the operator to restrict dose exposure during an emergency and to prepare a written evaluation prior to the commencement of any work involving ionizing radiation. These regulations entered into force on May 22, 2019.

Taiwan's Ministry of Labor announced amendments to Articles 3 and 6 of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations. Changes to Article 6 include listing responsibilities required of the employer in order to ensure worker safety. These items include high pressure gas hazards, and prevention against explosives, fire, equipment accidents, radiation, exhaust, etc. Effective date of the amendments is to be announced by the Ministry of Labor at a later date.
