UK Officially Leaves the EU
On January 31, 2020, the UK’s Parliament ratified the withdrawal agreement and the UK officially left the EU.
After this exit day, the 11-month implementation period began. During this period, which ends on December 31, 2020, the UK will continue to follow EU rules, and trading will remain unaltered. Also during this period, the UK and the EU will attempt to reach an agreement on trade. This includes items such as REACH regimes, etc. Fundamental differences have already emerged on both sides based on statements made by Johnson shortly after the January 31 exit. Negotiations continue to take place.
