​Germany introduced the Federal Climate Protection Law and changed a series of regulations. The law standardizes national, European, and international climate protection goals. The law further amends  Appendix 5  of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act and details the establishment of the "Energy and Climate Fund.” Amendments to regulations  involve the following subject areas:
​

• Sector-related annual emissions with reporting from the Federal Environment Agency and, if necessary, adjustments and stipulation of additional measures;
• Establishment of an expert council for climate issues with reporting to the Federal Government and Bundestag;
• Specification of the exemplary function of the public sector; and
• Adjustments to the legal framework for the Energy and Climate Fund.

 
The law came into force the day of announcement, December 17, 2019.

Ontario issued an amendment to the Resource Recovery and Circular Act 2016. The amendment aims, to incorporate a system of resource recovery and waste reduction that protects the natural environment and human health, fosters the continued growth and development of the circular economy and minimizes greenhouse gas emissions resulting from resource recovery activities and waste reduction activities.

Sweden issued the Regulation amending the Regulation (2004: 1205) on trade in allowances.

The Regulation makes consequential amendments to sections 2(a), 2(c), and 2(d).

​Amendments concern the directed authority of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to plan, investigate and test allowances under the Act. Amendments also address the authority of the Swedish Transport Agency in situations involving aviation activities.
