The Ministry of Environmental Protection issued a notice for stricter emission standards beginning on March 1, 2018. The affected cities are the “2+26 cities” with 2 municipalities: Beijing and Tianjin, and 26 cities located in 4 provinces: Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong, and Henan. There will be special emission limits applied to 25 industries including: thermal power, iron and steel, chemical, and non-ferrous metals. Existing enterprises in the coking industry will experience stricter standards beginning October 1, 2019, with restrictions on sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and VOCs.
